Brachytherapy is a form of radiotherapy whereby radiation sources are placed inside the tumour, avoiding radiation of healthy neighbouring structures. It has been shown to have spectacular outcomes, obtaining a PSA control level unthinkable with other techniques and a 15-year biochemical relapse-free survival rate of 98%. Brachytherapy is also used in the treatment of gynaecological, breast, skin and rectum tumours, amongst others.
